‘Elemental’ Trailer: Pixar’s Fire & Water Rom-Com Opens This Summer

Pixar could use a hit. For real, their last undeniable success was 2019’s Toy Story 4. To be fair, the pandemic hit them really hard. Onward couldn’t get out of the gate before it was out of theaters. Then Soul, Luca, and Turning Red all went straight-to-streaming, while last year’s Lightyear was just a flop. No excuses there. The hope is that Elemental, the studio’s latest, is the film that can get things heating up again.

Led by the voices of Leah Lewis and Mamoudou Athie, Elemental is set in a place where elemental residents all reside, but live separately from one another. That is until a quick-witted fire elemental named Ember and a go-with-the-flow water elemental named Wade Ripple venture out to explore the world and find what they all have in common.

The film is directed by Peter Sohn (The Good Dinosaur), and includes Ronnie del Carmen, Shila Ommi, Wendi McLendon-Covey, Catherine O’Hara, Mason Wertheimer, and Joe Pera in the voice cast.

Elemental opens in theaters on June 16th.

Check out a brand-new trailer for Disney and Pixar’s “Elemental,” an all-new original feature film that transports moviegoers to an extraordinary place called Element City, where a host of elements live and work. The trailer showcases each element—air, earth, water and fire—and what sets them apart according to Ember, a quick-witted and fiery woman who’s always stayed close to home in Firetown. In “Elemental,” which opens in theaters on June 16, she finally ventures out of her comfort zone to explore this spectacular world born from the imaginations of Pixar’s filmmakers and specifically crafted for the big-screen experience. Element City is inspired by big cities around the globe and embraces theorized contributions from each elemental community—from giant pine-tree-like buildings and waterfall skyscrapers to a tornado-shaped arena called Cyclone Stadium.
